Correctional Education

Our goal is to provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and training incarcerated students will need in order to successfully integrate back into their communities. Furthermore, we aim to help reduce the recidivism rate as our incarcerated population make their way back into the free world.  

Available Courses

Lamar State College-Port Arthur offers three degree programs:

  1. Associate of Arts in Academic Studies

  2. Associate of Applied Science, Automotive Technology

  3. Associate of Applied Science, Air Conditioning Systems

These programs are offered to men offenders in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, Beaumont Federal Correctional Complex facilities.  

Accreditation

Lamar State College Port Arthur is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award degrees at the associate level. Degree-granting institutions also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. The College is approved by the Texas Education Agency for training veterans under all classifications. The College is also a member of or approved by the American Bar Association, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the Texas Board of Nursing, the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA), the U.S. Department of Education and the Veterans Administration. 

Admission

Students applying for undergraduate admission must meet the following admission criteria: 

Step 1: Submit Admission Application  

You must complete and submit the Admission Application to the assigned 正规靠谱赌博软件 Correctional Education Specialist. 

Step 2: Submit Official Transcript  

You must submit official transcripts from all previously attended institutions to 正规靠谱赌博软件 before an admissions decision can be made. Failure to provide all transcripts will delay your admissions process. Transcripts must be received in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution. 

Step 3: Admission Decision 

Notification of your admission decision will be mailed. Once admitted, students will meet with an 正规靠谱赌博软件 Correctional Education Specialist to complete the enrollment process. 

What to Expect

正规靠谱赌博软件’s Correctional Education Program is designed with an automatic continuous registration plan. Once a student has been admitted, they will be assigned to a cohort. 

A sequence of courses has been established for each cohort, and students are automatically enrolled each semester. By registering, students agree to be enrolled in the current cohort and take two courses per semester until degree completion.
